MES Appointed Position Applications

Are you looking to get involved with the MES? Do you want to build your skills while contributing to something meaningful? Applications are now open for Appointed Positions on the MES! To apply, click here. The applications can be found under “Committee and Coordinator Applications”. Please leave the form in the President’s Mailbox, in JHE H101. Applications are due on March 29th, at 7:00PM.

This year the appointed positions we are hiring are:

Academic Resource Coordinator (up to 3)

  • Oversee academic related services such as Cookies and Cram, the Textbook Library and the tutoring program.


  • Take and distribute minutes for all MES Council Meetings
  • Maintain the MES office
  • Organize MES documents

Advertising Coordinator (up to 3)

  • Create graphics and advertising for all MES activities

Chief Returning Officer (Need to have held an elected position within the SRA or MES)

  • Act as an unbiased chair for MES Council meetings
  • Maintain order and integrity for the MES
  • Run MES elections

Culture Coordinators (up to two people)

  • Help coordinate events to maintain McMaster Engineering traditions such as Academic Flush and Santa Hog

Drain Coordinators (Apply as a pair)

  • Manage the Drain, our on campus engineering store.
  • Oversee volunteers to keep the store running
  • Come up with new ideas for merchandise

Equity Officer (Ad-Hoc/new)

  • Ensure that the MES’ policies are inclusive and equitable
  • Work with the MES executive and to improve accessibility for its events and services
  • Since the position is new, some additional responsibilities may be added

Fireball Coordinators (Apply as a pair)

  • Do all of the planning for Fireball

Frequency Editors (up to 2 people)

  • Publish and distribute the Frequency quarterly, which includes topics of interest to the engineering community.

Hatch Coordinator (one person)

  • Attend Hatch Operating Committee meetings
  • Work with the Faculty of Engineering and MES on improvements to Hatch
  • Update the Hatch Policy Manual

Handbook Editors (up to 2 people)

  • Create the Handbook that gets handed out to first year engineering students during Welcome Week!

IT Coordinators (Up to 2 people)

  • Maintain and improve the MES website

Kipling Coordinators (Apply as a pair)

  • Organize the Kipling formal
  • Organize the Kipling pranks

Lounge Coordinators (up to 2 people)

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the Engineering Lounge
  • Decorate the Lounge for certain seasons (Halloween, Valentines Day, Etc)

Plumbline Editors (up to 2 people)

  • Produce four issues of our satirical newspaper (It’s our version of the Beaverton)

Professional Development Coordinator

  • Host professional development events such as the Professional Development Conference

Public Relations Coordinator

  • Use the MES’ social media and other means to showcase engineering students and activities
  • Promote and plan events such as Pi Day, Movember and Oksoberfest

Sports Coordinator (up to two people)

  • Organize the MES’ sporting events
  • Advertise the Intramural funding budget

Trailer Maintenance Coordinator (up to two people)

  • Coordinate and record all MES Trailer activities and bookings
  • Ensure that the trailer is maintained and repaired when the need arises

Wellness Coordinator

  • Chair the Wellness Committee
  • Educate engineering students on student wellness
  • Plan stress busters
  • Work with the MES Executive to advocate for mental health initiatives
